Congratulations to the Clean Tech ECHS Class of 2019
The Honorable Assemblywoman Carrier Woerner recently spoke at the graduation celebration for students as they graduated from the Clean Technologies & Sustainable Industries Early College High School (Clean Tech ECHS). Forty-five students were being congratulated and recognized for their accomplishments. Of the graduates, 32 students will be attending a 4 year college, 11 students will be attending a 2 year college, and 2 students will be joining the workforce.
Additional speakers at the Graduation Ceremony included Ms. Judity DiLorenzo, Vice President of Academic Affairs for Hudson Valley Community College and Amber Mooney, Director of Workforce Development of The Business Council of NYS.
Scholarships were presented to Mackenzie Benoit and Ethan Tabachneck by Mete Cetinar, Vice President of STEM, for the Society of Information Management's Albany Chapter. Siena College also presented their scholarships to Ashley Abrams, Bryce Dittrich, and Evan Piscitelli.
For the second consecutive year, the event was sponsored by Guth DeConzo Consulting Engineers PC. Thank you for your generosity.
The school was begun in 2011 and now enrolls nearly 300 students from 22 different school districts across ten counties. The students in 11th and 12th grade take courses at TEC-SMART for half the day and complete regular high school courses in their home school for the remainder of the day as they earn up to 30 college credits in addition to a high school diploma. It is one of the innovative educational programs available to interested students in the Capital Region. Mentoring, job shadowing, workplace visits and field experiences are provided through the program’s partnerships with business and industry, government and non-profit regional groups.
The Clean Tech ECHS and program is located at Hudson Valley Community College’s TEC-SMART in Malta. For details about the program, go to https://www.bscsd.org/Domain/831 or contact ECHS Coordinator Adrienne Snow at asnow@bscsd.org.
