District Budget and Board of Education Vote Information
The annual statewide School Budget Vote and Board of Education Elections will be held on May 17, 2022 from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm. District residents vote at Ballston Spa High School (residents of the Towns of Ballston, Milton and Charlton) and the Malta Town Hall (residents of Malta).
Budget Proposal for 2022-23 - The Bottom Line: The adopted 2022-2023 budget for the Ballston Spa Central School District is $98,575,342 which represents a 3.8% increase in expenditures over the 2021-2022 budget. The projected tax levy increase to support the 2022-2023 budget is $56,248,499, which represents a 2.46% increase over the 2021-2022 tax levy. The tax impact on the average home in the district assessed at $262,000 is projected to be $68 per year. The adopted budget supports all current programs in place and adds additional staff support for both academic programs, as well as for struggling and accelerated students. A Meet the Board Candidates Night was held on Monday, May 2, 2022. The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County facilitated the evening to give area residents a chance to learn more about the five candidates running for the Ballston Spa CSD Board of Education. There are two full term (three year) Board seats up for election this year, commencing in July 2022. Interested voters will select from the following candidates at the polls (in order of appearance on the ballot): Lawrence Ryan, Jason Gurtler, Christopher Zeppieri, Brody Savoie and Holly Barker-Flynn. The mandated School District Annual Budget Hearing was scheduled for May 4, 2022. It was broadcast on the district’s YouTube channel. and is available HERE. Voter Registration: If a resident of the school district meets the definition of a “qualified voter” but has not registered to vote, (s)he must register to be eligible to receive a ballot. A qualified voter may register with the county by contacting the Saratoga County Board of Elections, or at the district’s registration day on May 10, 2022.
Absentee ballots will be available after April 20, 2022 for voters who are unable to visit the polls on May 17, 2022. An application for the absentee ballot is available HERE. They are also available for pickup at the District Office or by calling 518-884-7195 ext.1320. Absentee ballots must be received no later than 5:00 pm on May 17, 2022.
