A Message from the Superintendent - Positive Case of COVID-19 at BSHS

Dear BSCSD Parents and Caregivers: (02.25.21)

We were notified today of a high school student who has tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing has resulted in 21 students and 8 staff being placed in mandatory quarantine. Mrs. D’Agostino, our District COVID Coordinator, is making phones calls at this time to all those impacted. This will have a minimal impact on our operations as the student is a Junior and all students in the Junior-Senior cohort will be on remote instruction tomorrow (Friday) and all of next week based on our current schedule. That said, we wish good health to all of those who are affected by this case, particularly our student who tested positive.

As noted in emails prior to the break, we worried about a potential uptick in the number of positive cases that might result from travel. In Saratoga County today, the percent positive is 2.9% for the day, 2.7% for the 7-day average, and 2.4% for the 14-day average. In the District, we have had 5 positive cases reported this week for a weekly percent positive rate of .2% (see These are all good signs and we are hopeful that the numbers will remain low, particularly over the next few days.

With this in mind, today’s case serves as a good reminder to us all to continue to follow all health and safety precautions including accurately completing the Pinpoint Health screener each morning. Please continue to use our email box to report information about positive cases and quarantining to us.

I will be sharing additional District information in tomorrow’s Updates. Should you have any questions regarding this information, please let us know by sending an email to

Until then, thanks very much and enjoy the evening.

Ken Slentz
