A Message from the Superintendent - 11.17.20

Dear Parents and Caregivers –

Two updates regarding COVID-19 positive cases within our schools:

  1. Middle School Reopening on Wednesday, November 18: Based on the review of the information that has been gathered regarding the one positive case in our Middle School, the Saratoga County Department of Public Health has identified two staff members and thirty-six students who will be placed in quarantine. None of these adults/students were identified in these numbers as a result of yesterday’s attendance. Phone calls to those staff members and families impacted are ongoing at this time. As a result of our processes and protocols, the deep cleaning that has been done in the Middle School, and the follow up discussions with the County Department of Public Health, we are able to reopen the school tomorrow for those students in all grades who are designated to attend.
  1. High School Positive Case in Remote Learner: We have had a High School student test positive. The student has been a remote learner since late October. There is no impact on the health and safety of students or staff, and no interruption to school operations.

These situations are terribly unnerving for everyone involved and we certainly wish that we were not experiencing this at all. But so long as we collectively continue to follow our safety plans and encourage our community to follow them, we can continue to minimize the impact of the positive cases that will arise.

Thank you,

Ken Slentz
