A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Caregivers –

I wanted to update you on some changes to our calendar, particularly one that effects Tuesday, November 5 as we know how challenging it can be to find care for your children when school is not in session. Here goes:

  • November 5 – There will be a half day conference day on November 5 so as to accommodate the requirements of the recently passed NYS Election Law Section 3-110. This law entitles all district employees to take off up to a maximum of three (3) hours from their work day so as to exercise their right to vote.  In order to avoid the challenges of finding and managing what could be a substantial number of substitutes for the day, there will be no school in the afternoon.
  • November 8 – The district will practice an early dismissal drill on Friday, November 8, 2019 as part of the county wide, mandated Emergency Release Day. Students will be released 15 minutes early from their respective school. Additional information is HERE
  • November 11 – There will be no school November 11th in observance of Veterans’ Day
  • November 12 – There will be no school for K-5 students on November 12th as the K-5 staff participate in ongoing training related to the new literacy program.

Additional information on upcoming district events is on the website calendar – Click HERE.

Please let us know if you have any questions and thanks very much for your continued support of our students, staff, and schools.

Thanks very much.

Ken Slentz
