School Resource Officer Update -Feb 2020
The district has selected a new School Resource Officer from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to serve the elementary schools for the remainder of the school year. Deputy Jillian Lyons recently left the district to pursue a position with the Federal Protective Services in the Department of Homeland Security. Deputy Diana Buehler who has been in the district occasionally throughout the year will serve the elementary schools while a permanent replacement plan can be finalized.
The district welcomed two Deputies from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office into our schools as part of the School Resource Officer program in September 2018. The officers are now full-time members of the staff and focus on keeping students and staff safe and buildings secure; teach students healthy behaviors including respecting others, drug awareness, internet safety, and conflict resolution; and are a positive part of our school community. Deputy Buehler will work with all four elementary schools from her office centrally located at the Milton Terrace Elementary School. She joins Deputy Jon Becker who is located at the Ballston Spa High and Middle Schools where he works with students and staff in grades 6-12.
On behalf of the school district students, staff, and parents, we extend a big thank you to Deputy Lyons for her service and commitment to the well-being of everyone in our school community. Best wishes for the very best in your new DHS position!
