Seniors Receive Scholarships from BSTA

The Ballston Spa Teachers’ Association (BSTA) recently awarded four $1,500 scholarships to graduating students Alexis Fuda, Emily Hogan, Julia Greco and Grace O’Connor.  The awards are specifically given to students who plan to pursue a career in education or a related field.

BSTA President Kim Pusatere indicated that a total of 32 applications were submitted this year by members of the Class of 2019. The recipients who were selected are dedicated students who had taken full advantage of the available academic opportunities in the Ballston Spa High School and demonstrated extensive involvement within the Ballston Spa community. The students all plan to begin their college studies in the fall.

Alexis Fuda plans to attend SUNY Oneonta and pursue a major in Adolescent Education. Emily Hogan has enrolled at SUNY Geneseo with a major in Early Childhood/Childhood Education. Julia Greco will begin her studies at SUNY Oneonta and also pursue a major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Grace O’Connor will attend Pace University and study Psychology. The students will receive their diplomas at the Ballston Spa High School graduation ceremony on June 26, 2019 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Since 1960, the BSTA has awarded over $106,900 in scholarships, which are funded solely by donations from BSTA active and retired members. The BSTA is currently looking for the names of the Ballston Spa Education Association (BSEA) scholarship recipients for the following classes -1989, 1992, 1994 and 1999.  If you have any information about these recipients, or for additional information, please email Kim Pusatere at kpusatere@bscsd.org.
