Board Appoints Interim High School Principal

The Board of Education has appointed Richard Murphy as the Interim Ballston Spa High School Principal for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year. 

“His experience and success in leading a large Suburban Council High School will be a tremendous asset in helping BSHS continue our goal of providing a top-quality education to our students,” said Dr. Gianleo Duca, Interim Superintendent of Schools.

 Mr. Murphy was the Principal at Shaker High School in the North Colonie Central School District for 15 years before retiring from full time service in 2021.  He previously served as the Director of Pupil Services in the North Colonie Central School District. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Siena College, a Master’s Degree in School Counseling and Administrative Certification from the College of Saint Rose.  He also holds New York State Certification as a School District and a School Building Leader. 

"I am pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of the team serving Ballston Spa High School students and the community”, indicated Interim Principal Richard Murphy. Further, “I look forward to supporting the continued success of our students this coming school year."

The school currently has over 1,100 students enrolled in the 9th-12th grades.
