Updates for Elementary Families 2-3-23

Hello, BSCSD Elementary families.  Please see our updates from the week below.  We wish you all a wonderful weekend!

-BSCSD Elementary Principals

Important Upcoming Dates:

No One Walks Alone - Parent Information Night

Now on February 15, 2023 (Original date of January 25 moved due to inclement weather) the district will host an evening program for parents focused on a personal and open discussion about depression, mental illness, and suicide; as well as how to speak about it with the youth in our school community.

Free Breakfast and Lunch Opportunity

The District will be providing a free breakfast and/or lunch on several upcoming dates to encourage students to sample the available meals offered by the District. Free breakfasts will be available to all students on February 6, 13, 27 and March 6. Lunch will also be provided free on February 6 and 27.  All students will be able to receive the free meal, both breakfast and lunch on these select dates. Any additional items on these dates will be charged as normal.

Cold Weather Gear

During the winter months, we make every effort to get students outside for recess when the weather allows.  Outside recess occurs when the Real Feel temperature is above 20 degrees.  Please make sure that students bring appropriate clothing for outside play.  When there is snow, students need appropriate snow clothes (pants, gloves, boots, hats, etc) to use snow play areas.  Students without these items will still have outdoor recess, but they will be limited to the areas that have been cleared of snow.

Valentine’s Day

Please remember that if you are sending in Valentines for your child’s class, they will need to adhere to our district’s wellness policy; no unhealthy or homemade food valentines can be shared with students (ex. No candy attached to a card).  At this time, any food sent in for a class must be purchased through our district’s food vendor.   It’s a great idea to send in non-food item Valentines- below is a list of ideas. Thank you for your continued

support!
