Community Resources for holiday assistance

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are so happy to be seeing your children in our buildings again! While we may be starting to feel like things are heading back in a more “normal” direction, we understand that this year may have presented some new challenges when it comes to planning for the holiday season. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of community resources that offer the opportunity to provide support for families in need as well as offer families a place to donate if that is your intention for this holiday season. As was the case last year, the elementary schools will not be able to directly provide holiday assistance to families.  We wanted to prepare you with this information as soon as possible so you can still access other holiday assistance resources in the community. Below are some resources that can provide support throughout the holiday season.

LifeWorks Community Action- Formerly known as EOC (for Thanksgiving assistance and food pantry information)

Franklin Community Center

Captain

Salvation Army

  • (518) 584-1640
  • Refer to the Salvation Army of Saratoga Springs Facebook page for more information

Christ Church Toy Giveaway

  • 518-885-1031
  • Signup at the Christ Church Food Pantry after Thanksgiving and the date to pick out toys will be given out there.

Most agencies start the process of matching families with donors months before the holidays so please reach out to the above resources as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to get the needed support.  Some agencies have due dates that occur as early as October and some may also operate on a first come first serve basis

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school counselor or school social worker.

Sincerely,

Elementary School Counselors and School Social Workers
