Updates for Elementary Families 9-16-21

BSCSD Elementary Updates

  • Quarantine Procedures for Students
    • If your elementary child(ren) have been quarantined by Saratoga County Public Health Services, the following steps will be taken:
      • Teachers will prepare work for the student and the family will pick up the work and the child’s device at the school (deliveries are possible if the family cannot travel).
      • On the second day of quarantining and the following days, the student will be able to stream in for live instruction for ELA and Math for an identified amount of time shared by the teacher.  The teacher may provide learning materials through paper copies, work posted in Schoology, live instruction, and tutoring as appropriate.
      • More information on the quarantining process from Saratoga County Public Health can be found on the district’s website here.

  • Arrival/Dismissal - We thank you all for helping us to continue to improve our pick up and drop off procedures at the Wood Road complex.  As we evaluate our processes, please help us by reviewing the following items:
    • Please have students prepared to exit vehicles on their own when directed to do so by staff.  Parents/guardians should stay inside the vehicles.
    • Please follow the directions of staff directing traffic.
    • Most students should be able to load themselves in their vehicles.  For those younger students that need additional assistance, please secure them in the vehicle as quickly and safely as possible to maintain the flow of traffic.
    • Morning drop-off concludes at 9:15 am.  If you arrive after this time, please bring your child to the main entrance.  Please do not drop students off if there are no staff to receive them.

  • Family Survey
    • The district is using a new survey tool this school year called ThoughtExchange. From time to time, on various topics, we’ll be sharing an open-ended question for the purpose of gathering ideas from our students, staff and community members. All of our voices matter and this is another way for us to gather feedback and learn what’s important to the group.

We are starting things off with a fun topic…refreshing our Ballston Spa School District logo. Fear not, the Scottie Dog is here to stay! We simply want to refresh and update our current logo to make it unique and identifiable to our district.

As a student/parent in the district, your input is valuable and appreciated!  Please take a few minutes to participate in our first ThoughtExchange when you have a few moments by clicking on the following link:

Have a wonderful evening everyone. Stay safe and healthy!
