The Ballston Spa Middle School teachers, staff, and students participated in Pink and Denim Day on Friday, October 18th. In addition to wearing pink, the students made posters that included breast cancer statistics and hung them throughout the school to raise awareness to this disease. In addition, the Service Club and National Junior Honor Society sold pink bracelets, necklaces, and scrunchies during lunches to raise funds for a donation to the American Cancer Society. Furthermore, teachers and staff put together a Breast Cancer Awareness Gift Basket that was raffled off to raise awareness and funds that will be combined with the monies that were raised by the students. Once these are tallied, the donation from BSMS should be around $800 and will go towards breast cancer research, more access to mammograms, and assistance with lodging and transportation for patients and caregivers during treatment.
