Do You Know Where in the World You Are? 

Ballston Spa Middle School students participated in the first stage of the National Geographic Geography Bee in their social studies classes to prepare for the competition. On January 17th, over 50 Middle School students competed in the School Round of the Geography Bee.

Winners who then proceeded to the final school round were:

  • Brayson Cornick, 6
  • Hudson Dunbar, 8
  • Greg Kaatz, 7
  • Patrick Kolodziesjski, 6
  • Hudson Seplowitz, 6

After participating in five rounds, Brayson Cornick and Greg Kaatz then competed in a tie breaker round.  Greg Kaatz, is the BSMS Geography Bee Champion of 2019. As winner of the Ballston Spa Middle School Geography Bee, Greg advances to the next level of competition, a written examination to determine state competitors.  An examination score in the top 100 will qualify for the state level competition which will be held in April in Albany, NY.  All state champions will advance to the national championship and compete for the first prize, a college scholarship, at the national competition in May in Washington, D.C.
