  • Students attended a presentation by Holocaust survivor Ruth Mendel

On November 29, students from Mrs. Bongo’s History of the Holocaust class and Mr. Hamm’s and Mrs. Fox’s English classes attended a presentation by Holocaust survivor Ruth Mendel. Mrs. Mendel spoke of her experiences living in Luxembourg at the outset of WWII. When her small country was occupied by Nazi forces, she and her family, being Jewish, were forced to flee, first to Portugal and ultimately to the United States. Mrs. Mendel not only spoke of her experiences during the war, but also brought students a message about the importance of being kind and compassionate to others, no matter their background.
