Trick or Treat for Troops
Do you have a lot of Halloween candy? Do you want to put a smile on a soldier's face this Halloween? The third graders have teamed up with Dr. Dreher, a dentist in Ballston Spa. Dr. Dreher's office sends Halloween candy in care packages to local soldiers that are currently deployed and serving overseas. You can help by sending your extra Halloween candy to them! Our troops don't often get treats like candy and chocolate. Along with the candy, Dr. Dreher will be sending toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dental floss to keep their smiles bright after their sweet treats!
Along with the sweet treats, we would love to include some notes and cards too. Feel free to make a card or note to express your thanks for their service. The soldiers love reading the special notes. Additionally, the troops can always use toiletries (toothpaste, deodorant, soap, etc.) and activity books such as word searches and crossword puzzles too.
We will be collecting candy, cards, and other donations until Friday November 9th.
For more information, ask a third grade teacher!
Picture day is Wednesday, Oct. 24th. More information and forms will be going home with the students.

Facilities Improvement Referendum Phase III
The Ballston Spa CSD Board of Education has scheduled a Facilities Improvement Bond Referendum on October 16, 2018 to seek the public’s approval to fund Phase III of the district’s facilities master plan. The proposed improvements include renovations, beginning with critical health, safety and infrastructure items in the Grove Street section of the Malta Avenue Elementary School as well as the outdated classrooms, bathrooms and locker rooms at the Ballston Spa Middle School.
Proposed High School renovations include the replacement of the original cogeneration equipment and related control systems, upgrades to the auditorium and technology classroom access. The proposed athletic improvements include rehabilitation of fields in front of and behind the Middle School, the construction of a new multipurpose field on the south end of the campus and a new athletic storage building.
The bond referendum to fund $23,980,000 for Phase III facilities improvements will be on the ballot as Proposition I. As a result of utilizing $6,325,000 from the district’s Capital Reserve Fund, the projected net tax impact on the average home assessed at $235,000 is estimated to be an average of $11.60 per year starting in 2021.
The district will hold the referendum for registered voters of the district to consider the proposition on October 16, 2018 from 7:00 am- 9:00 pm in the Ballston Spa High School (residents of the towns of Ballston, Milton and Charlton) and the Malta Town Hall (Malta residents).
