• Phase III Facilities Improvements Being Completed - Winter 2021

The district has started the multiyear facilities improvement projects identified in Phase III of the facilities master plan (2010). These improvements are part of the Board’s commitment to provide safe, secure and productive learning environments for the coming years. After receiving the support of district voters in the fall of 2018, the necessary designs and regulatory approvals were secured, and the BOE awarded bids to begin the projects in the spring of 2020. Most of the work is being completed when buildings are unoccupied during the summer months over a three year time period.

The improvement projects began in the summer of 2020 with the start of the renovations in the Grove Street section of the Malta Avenue School including the updating of third floor classrooms, lockers/hallways and the auditorium. Work began on the outdated classrooms, lockers, and bathrooms at the Middle School. High School renovations included the replacement of the original cogeneration equipment and the replacement of classroom heating and cooling systems. The athletic improvements included the construction of a new multipurpose field on the south end of the campus and a new athletic storage building. Information about the three year plan is located on the Facilities Improvement Project pages of the district website.
