Welcome to the Malta Ave. Elementary School Library!
-
Malta Ave. Elementary School's Library program enables students to become life-long learners and effective users of ideas and information. Our program emphasizes the value of reading for pleasure and teaches the appreciation and enjoyment of all types of literature.
Classes K-5 visit the library for a one-hour weekly visit. Instruction focuses on inquiry learning, location skills, literature appreciation, and genre and author studies. Students borrow materials with Reader's Advisory assistance from the librarian. Check our Library Policies link for borrowing information.
Students and their families can access our library's catalog, DESTINY, from a home computer by the link provided through the district website at www.bscsd.org. Ebooks? Check out our link to OverDrive. Encyclopedias and databases? Yes, you can access these from home!

Damaged/Lost Items
All library materials are checked for damage when they are returned. If damage is minor and the material can still be used, we do not ask for payment, but we will give a reminder about proper care. If library materials are heavily damaged and have to be removed from the library, we will request payment for the material. Materials that are lost must be paid for or replaced.
