Related Services
Related services means support services such as speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling services. These services can be delivered in an individual or group setting.
Speech and Language
- Speech/Language Therapists are professionals who evaluate and treat children who have speech/language needs. Speech needs include: difficulties with articulation, phonology, apraxia, fluency and voice. Language needs include: difficulties with receptive language (understanding language), expressive language (using language) and pragmatic language (social language skills). These professionals also work with students who are hard of hearing, or have feeding/swallowing needs.
Physical Therapy
- Physical therapy is a related service provided to some students with disabilities exhibiting delays in gross motor skills which impact the educational success of the student.
Occupational Therapy
- Occupational Therapy is a related service provided to some students with disabilities who have fine motor delays which impact the educational success of the student.
Social Work
- School social workers address the psychological and social well-being of students, ranging from elementary school to high school students. They provide information and counseling and help students, parents and school staff work together to solve problems by communicating and providing referrals to other resources.
