Young Scholars
The Young Scholars program is an inquiry-based program that meets the needs of high ability students in grades 3-5 who have reasoning skills in the top one or two percent of students in their age group nationwide, as measured by the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT). The program enriches and extends instruction in core subjects. The focus is on English language arts; foreign language; social/emotional well-being; and science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) in a pull-out setting one day per week. Third graders meet for 2 hours a week, and fourth and fifth graders participate in a full-day program.
Students who achieve a qualifying score on the CogAT are invited to attend Young Scholars. The CogAT is administered annually in the spring for admittance the following school year.
