Advanced Placement and University in the HS
Advanced Placement/University in the High School, College in the High School, and International Baccalaureate
The District is proud to offer students a wide variety of opportunities across content areas to obtain college credit while enrolled in upper level courses at Ballston Spa High School. Advanced Placement, University in the High School, College in the High School and IB courses are viewed as transfer credits by most colleges, although every college sets its own policies for accepting transfer credits. Additionally, the Clean Technologies and Sustainable Industries Early College High School is fully aligned with degree pathways through Hudson Valley Community College, allowing students the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree in 1 year beyond high school.
Procedurally, designates courses as college level on the high school transcript, and grants credit toward high school graduation. The college in which the student enrolls ultimately grants college credit. Ballston Spa High School expects every student enrolled in these courses to apply for college credit or take the AP exam. Below are examples of current coursework offered for advanced study, and these are some of the most comprehensive opportunities in the region. Please encourage your child to take advantage of the possibility for advanced standing upon entering college.
