Community Partner Spotlight

TCT Federal Credit Union was recently recognized by the Ballston Spa Board of Education as a dedicated supporter of the Ballston Spa Central School District, consistently contributing to various initiatives that benefit students and staff. This year, they generously provided a $2,500 donation to support the Scotties BackPack and Sponsor-a-Scholar programs.  In addition to their financial support, TCT continually seeks ways to assist students and staff. Their Teacher of the Week program highlights exceptional educators, they provide scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors, support our staff welcome back reception in the fall and annual Wellness Expo each spring. We are grateful for their continued involvement and proudly recognize TCT Federal Credit Union as a valued community partner.

Ballston Spa Education Foundation (BSEF) is a non-profit group supporting the mission of the Ballston Spa Central School District by raising and distributing resources for educational enrichment outside the daily operational needs of the school district. Since its inception in 1996, BSEF has granted nearly $500,000 to fund educationally enriching programs at all levels. 

Our mission is to support educational enrichment for the students of Ballston Spa. Through grants to educators, we fund projects that are outside the scope of the Ballston Spa Central School District's budget.  Specifically, projects that impact students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, or social development—increasing the depth and/or variety of subjects or some other form of educational benefit.

We like to think of ourselves as the “cherry on top” of what is regularly funded by the District. We don’t fill holes in school funding; we amplify the education experiences of children.

Ballston Spa National Bank has once again renewed their commitment as the Title Sponsor of the BSHS Robotics Team, OxBe4 #3044. For many years, BSNB has supported this program, ensuring our students can compete through FIRST Robotics. In an era of rising costs, BSNB has stepped up even further—generously providing $10,000 to support the team for the 2026 season. This vital contribution will allow the team to expand, compete, and mentor new teams within our district. We remain grateful for BSNB’s partnership and support of our robotics programming.

Pam Montpelier, BSNB Senior Vice President, Growth and Experience Officer, along with Rob Roemer, BSNB Senior Vice President, Information Systems and members of his IT group Ken Almonte, Maddie O’Malley and John Foley attended the most recent Board of Education Meeting for a check presentation along with the Robotics Team.  After the board meeting the team took the guests from BSNB on a tour of their build space and explained the work they do in constructing a robot.

Annually, the Ballston Spa Education Foundation (BSEF) offers the opportunity for our educators to apply for grants that will benefit the students in our schools. Through these grants, our teachers are able to enrich the learning experience for all of our students. District grants awarded for the 2026 grant cycle  = $6,092.22 with an additional grant awarded to The Ballston Area Community Center (BACC) = $568.98 making the total grants awarded by BSEF for the 2026 grant cycle = $6,661.20. Since its inception in 1996, BSEF has granted over $460,000 to fund educationally enriching programs at all levels. We are thankful for the support our educators receive from BSEF and look forward to seeing their grants in action each year.

BSEF presented these grants to our educators at the March 18, 2026 Board of Education meeting. Learn more about the Ballston Spa Education Foundation.

The following grants were awarded to BSCSD educators for their classrooms to benefit our students:

• $1,931.75 to Kelly Morgan at Wood Road for outdoor library boxes and science supplies to use on the nature trail in order to make the trail a usable outdoor classroom environment.
   
• $1,794.00 to Sue Bernd at the High School for gardening supplies and plants to create a native garden with the Environmental Club that would also be cared for by the students in the special education program.
   
• $1,250.00 to Nicole Bureau at Gordon Creek for adapted toys and games that will allow the students in the MOVE room to engage in activities with more independence, as well as improve social interactions with typical peers.
   
• $721.47 to Karel DeGennaro and Lynn Razzano at Gordon Creek for supplies to implement a Peace Path for conflict resolution on the playground to encourage independence with resolving smaller conflicts and growth in social emotional and coping skills.
   
• $395.00 to Michelle Greco of Gordon Creek for a "Math Stakers-Math Thinker Plus Set" to be used to support the math curriculum with hands-on manipulatives that are engaging and make learning fun.

BSEF also awarded a grant to the Ballston Area Community Center (BACC) extending their support for our district's youngest students:

• $568.98 to the BACC for an indoor multi-hoop basketball stand and outdoor basketball hoop that are appropriate for the Pre-K population for physical education and recess times.

Ballston Spa Girl Scout Troop #3903 recently wrapped up a successful cookie season! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the troop also collected extra funds to give back to those in need.

The girls chose to donate their proceeds to Scotties Pantry, purchasing several bags of groceries that were delivered this week and will be distributed to the high school and middle school. Congratulations to the troop on a fantastic season, and thank you for such a thoughtful contribution to our schools!
