Varsity Softball:

Shenendehowa at Ballston Spa Fri. 5/15 -

Highlights: Oehlschlaeger led off with a single in the top of the second, Brooke Lescault and Carina DeCenzo turned a double play to clear the bases. Parseghian doubled on a fly ball to center field followed by an RBI single by Wheeler to put Shen on the board 1-0. 

No runners would cross the plate again as the teams were making quick work on defense. 

Ava Boni collected the Scottie's first hit in the bottom of the 5th and Brooke Schumer shut the Scottie's down inducing a pop up on a bunt attempt followed by two strikeouts.

Shen put a threat on the board in the 7th when Parseghian singled to lead off the 7th.  Wheeler would sac bunt moving Menton (running for Parseghian) while Avery Lundin drew a walk to put runners on first and second with only one out. Szwarchberg and Siska both flew out to centerfield to end the top of the inning.

In the bottom of the 7th Madelyn Ebbecke flew out to deep center field to lead things off. Jadyn Fives drew a walk bringing in Courtesy runner Kyleigh Raeder. Avery Santoro a senior would ground into a fielder's choice. The Scotties' now have a runner on 1st with two outs. Claire Neiles was the pitcher this inning for Shen. Ava Boni would draw a walk putting runners on 1st and second. Shen re-enters Abby Mitola for senior Carina DeCenzo. DeCenzo would single on a fly ball to center field scoring Santoro to tie up the game. Makayla LaRose would draw a walk to load the bases for senior Lyla Charlebois. Charlebois would see 9 pitches in her at bat, the 9th proved to be the game winner with a hard ground ball hit to 3rd baseman Padro who bobbles the ball while the scottie's walk it off to finish the season 12-8 as they head into sectionals.

Competitive Game by both teams. Ballston Spa improves their record to 10-5 on the season and returns to play Tuesday 5/5 at Averill Park with a 4:30 start time.

Key Moments:
Saratoga started off strong with Ava Tabor leading off with a single and advancing to 3rd on Ava Goodman's single to left field. Nia Law had a sac fly to score Tabor and LeClair helped her own cause with adding an RBI single.
Second Inning: Makayla LaRose and Ballston Spa defense held Saratoga that inning after scoring one in the top half of the inning following a 1 double by Jadyn Fives later scoring courtesy runner Evelyn Dunn on a 2 out single by Carina DeCenzo. 
3rd Inning: The Scottie's started the inning with a leadoff single by Katelyn Weatherwax followed by a double from Brooke Lescault. Makayla LaRose would help her own cause with a Sac fly to score Weatherwax. Lescault would score on an RBI single by Maddy Ebbecke. Ebbecke was moved to second on a sac bunt from Ava Boni which then lead to Ebbecke scoring on another double by Jadyn Fives. The Scottie's took a 4-2 lead until Saratoga put up 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning. A leadoff walk by Cipriano followed by a bunt single from Tabor and Goodman drew a walk to load the bases with no out. Nia Law would hit a single up the middle to score Cipriano, LeClair hit a 2 RBI single followed by a single from Ruscio.  
4th Inning: Saratoga held the Scottie's scoreless, and were able to put up another run after a leadoff double by Tabor who scored on a miscue by the Scotties.  
5th Inning: It was Ballston Spa's turn to load the bases with no outs after a leadoff walk, an error, and a single by Avery Santoro. Izzy Casey would then drive the ball to the fence for a bases clearing double. Katelyn Weatherwax would follow up with a single moving Casey to 3B. Casey would score on a passed ball. Weatherwax would score on a two out error by the defense. The Scottie's now lead 10-9 and were able to hold the Blue Streaks after LaRose struck out the side. 
6th Inning: Scotties tack on another run after a two out double by DeCenzo and another RBI double by Casey. Saratog also put up a run on after three consecutive two out hits. LaRose got out of the jam with a strikeout. 
7th Inning was scoreless.

Highlights:  
Ballston Spa defeats Horseheads (2025 state runner up) by a score of 8-0 which included a HR by Jadyn Fives and a 3 hit shutout by Makayla LaRose. Avery Santoro went 3/3 in that game with a double.

They dropped a 8-3 game to Ursuline. They were trailing 0-3 after the top of the 1st within 2 runs until Ursuline centerfielder hit a homerun in the 7th. Highlights, Maddy Ebbecke with a triple in the game. Avery Santoro also collected two hits (5/7 on the day).
