Alumni Recognition - 2011
The Ballston Spa Central School District recently recognized six distinguished graduates at the 2nd Annual Alumni Recognition Ceremony at Ballston Spa High School. Dr. William Kelley, class of 1950, was honored for his distinguished career and numerous professional accomplishments in the field of science. Mr. James Funiciello, class of 1954, was honored for numerous accomplishments in the area of athletics and Mr. Maurice “Christopher” Morley (2001) was honored posthumously for his dedication and service to his country and the community of Ballston Spa.
Former Ballston Spa educator and coach, Mr. Ron Ravena, class of 1960, was honored for his distinguished career in education and in the area of athletics. Mr. Brien Hollowood, class of 1975, was recognized for his numerous accomplishments as a businessman and for his dedication and service to the communities of Ballston Spa and Saratoga Springs. Ms. Karen Heggen, class of 1981, was honored for her distinguished career in law and government and for her dedication and service to the community.
Nominations were collected from alumni friends and families to recognize those who have demonstrated leadership in their field of study or work, who have made a difference in the lives of others, and/or who care about and participate in the community where they reside. The alumni were selected for recognition after careful screening of numerous nominations from the community. The Ballston Spa Alumni Recognition Committee includes Richard Wurster ’60, Patti (DeFillippo) Fitzgerald ’79, Linda (Wilson) Gawrys ’80, Susan (Rodriguez) Douglas ’85, Denise (Remillard) Jones ’90, and Ballston Spa’s Coordinator of Development Courtney Lamport.
