The Board of Education appointed Ms. Kelly Cataldo as the new Wood Road Elementary Principal on July 10, 2024.

Ms. Cataldo is a proud 2001 graduate of Ballston Spa. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Adolescent Education Social Studies from SUNY Oneonta and a Master's Degree in Literacy from The College of St. Rose. Additionally, she has earned both her School Building Leader and School District Leader Certificates from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Ms. Cataldo brings twelve years of teaching experience at the middle school and high school levels from the Lansingburgh Central School District. She transitioned into administration in 2019 as the assistant principal of Turnpike Elementary School and has spent the last three years as the building principal.

“Ms. Cataldo’s evidence and emphasis on building positive culture in schools throughout the interview process, as well as her commitment to Ballston Spa, made her a stand-out candidate for this position. Her experience at the secondary level, as well as her experience as a sitting elementary principal, who has insight into all stages of a student’s education program, made her an excellent choice as our next Principal at Wood Road”, said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Gianleo Duca.

Ms Cataldo said, "Coming home to work in Ballston Spa has always been a dream of mine. As a graduate and current parent in the district, I am honored to join this amazing school district and lead Wood Road Elementary. I am excited to begin my work at Wood Road alongside the dedicated faculty and staff while building a welcoming culture and climate for all. I can’t wait to meet all the students, faculty, staff, and families in the coming weeks as we prepare for a new school year.”
