For the first time in over thirty years two teams from Ballston Spa are headed to the World Championships of Odyssey of the Mind.
For the first time in over thirty years two teams from Ballston Spa are headed to the World Championships of Odyssey of the Mind. Students from Malta Ave Elementary and the Middle School will bring their Scotties Pride to Ames, Iowa May 21st-24th.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international competitive program where teams choose from a list of open-ended problems and solve one of them through a combination of an original theatrical sketch performance and engineering solutions using only low cost or recycled materials. Each team must also solve a second spontaneous problem during competition of which they have no advance knowledge.
They are currently hosting fundraisers to help fund the teams’ travel to Iowa in May. Donate at their GoFundMe page here: https://gofund.me/
There are also local fundraisers being held to help both teams get to worlds. On Friday, May 3rd, 5-8pm at Wiswall Park during First Friday events, there will be an ice cream stand to purchase ice cream sundaes and chances to win prizes too! Check out the flyer for the event for more details!
