  • GC Participates in The Great Kindness Challenge

    We are excited to announce that Gordon Creek is a 2020 Kindness Certified School and will be actively participating in The Great Kindness Challenge from January 27 - 31, 2020! The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion on school campuses worldwide. Our school is proudly participating in this proactive and positive kindness initiative. All students will receive The Great Kindness Challenge checklist. Students will be encouraged to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. We are also happy to invite YOU to participate using the Family Edition checklist.   • GC Teacher Honored

    Congratulations to Megan LaRowe for placing first at the post level for the Smart/Maher Teacher Award. VFW annually recognizes the nation’s top classroom elementary, junior high and high school teachers who teach citizenship education topics regularly and promote America’s history and traditions effectively. Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for this award.

  • Student Drop Off at Gordon Creek

    Students may be dropped off between 8:55-9:05 AM. Only breakfast students may be dropped off prior to 8:55 but no earlier than 8:50 AM and must be walked across the crosswalk by a parent/guardian. Buses unload at 9:00 AM. Staff will be in the parking lot to supervise students from 8:55 AM until 9:05 AM. Students that arrive after 9:05 AM are considered tardy and should be walked into the main office by a parent/guardian. For safety reasons, students will exit the vehicle at the designated cones only and on the passenger side of the vehicle to avoid traffic. Students should not walk unattended through the parking lot. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.

  • Who's Got Talent?

    SAVE THE DATE and start practicing your act because Gordon Creek Elementary PTA’s annual Talent Show is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5th at 6:00 pm! The show is a noncompetitive event open to all Gordon Creek students and staff. You can perform alone or with a sibling, friend or parent. We are looking for all types of talented students to entertain us with dancing, singing, instruments, gymnastics, karate, joke telling, puppetry, magic and anything else you can come up with. Performances are limited to a maximum of three minutes. Further information and a sign-up sheet will be sent home after vacation.

    Our School Day at Gordon Creek Elementary

    School Begins at 9:00 AM. School Dismisses at 3:20 PM.

    Arrival 8:55-9:05 AM

    Students may be dropped off between 8:55-9:05 AM.     If your student is being picked up during or after school, please send a note in to school with your student.

    Students who are absent from school, upon return, will need a note from a parent/guardian stating the reason for the absence.

     

     During the winter months, students will be going outside for recess when weather permits. Please make sure your student comes to school with the proper clothing.

  • Winter Intramurals

    . Winter Intramurals will be taking place on January 21, 28, February 11, 25 and March 3. Intramurals take place from 3:20-4:15 PM. Students should come prepared with sneakers. If they do not have sneakers, they will be sent home on their regular bus at 3:20 PM.

Gordon Creek Spotlight

District News

  • Launching Pad Presents Frozen Jr.

    Performances will be held on Friday, January 31; Saturday, February 1; Friday, February 7; and Saturday, February 8 at 7:00pm. There will also be a matinee performance at 1:00pm on February 1 & 8, 2020. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens and can be purchased at the door before each performance.

    The application packet is available on the BSCSD website or through the UPK agencies. The application deadline is January 31, 2020.

    Families will have the opportunity to explore the science and engineering practices as well as problem solving skills while participating in hands on activities

  • VFW Teacher of the Year Awards

    Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 358 in Ballston Spa honored two Ballston Spa teachers during a recent awards ceremony. The Veterans of Foreign Wars offer a variety of nationally accredited awards and scholarships for both students and teachers.
