Mrs. Blanchet has wanted to be a Social Studies teacher since she was in 8th grade. Mrs. Blanchet is originally from Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, NY and visits often, as her entire family still resides there. She attended the State University College at Oneonta where she received her Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education, Social Science. She attended Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and received her Masters Degree in Reading. She is permanently certified to teach Social Studies grades 5-12 and Reading grades K-12. Mrs. Blanchet has also played, coached on the college and high school level, and officiated the sport of field hockey. In her spare time she loves to hang out with her family, cook, hike, renovate her 1789 farmhouse, play ice hockey, watch NY Islander games, and of course read, watch, and teach everything to do with history. Over the past five years, when she was introduced to hiking, she has hiked the Northeast 111 highest peaks over 4000 feet in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York, the Adirondack 46 high peaks, as well as completing the 35 3500 foot or higher peaks in the Catskill Mountains, and recently completing the 273 mile Long Trail through the state of Vermont with her husband. Mrs. Blanchet has been teaching at Ballston Spa Middle School since 2003.
