Elementary Science Program
The elementary science program is aligned to the New York State Science Learning Standards. Each grade level has a set of performance expectations that includes concepts from life science, earth science, and physical science. The performance expectations at each grade level allow students to use science and engineering practices (skills) and concepts that cut across all three science disciplines to develop an understanding of the world around them. Students in fourth grade will take the NYS 4th grade Science Assessment.
Ballston Spa Middle School Science Program
The middle school science curriculum is aligned to the New York State Intermediate Science Core Curriculum. Students will study topics from the life sciences, earth sciences, and physical science in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Students in Science 8 take the NYS Intermediate Science 8 exam at the end of 8th grade. Students that demonstrate exceptional skills and understanding in math and science have the opportunity to accelerate in science in 8th grade and take Regents Earth Science. Additional information about the middle school science program can be found at the Ballston Spa Middle School Science Department webpage.
Ballston Spa High School Science Program
In addition to the core sciences of Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics; our department offers students the chance to explore some of the applied sciences such as Biomedical Science, Astronomy and Forensics. The department offers AP, IB, and College in the High School classes. Additional information about the high school science program can be found at the Ballston Spa High School Science Department webpage.
