School Tour for 6th Grade and New Students
Good Morning Ballston Spa Middle School Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to all for your patience and support as we begin our school year. As stated previously we are all working to improve your child’s experience in our remote and in person learning experiences. Please continue to reach out with any questions or concerns and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
We have gotten a number of questions from 6th grade parents and parents of new students asking about tours. We are excited to inform you that we will be able to have tours. If interested please read the below information to sign up.
School Tour for 6th Grade and New Students
We will have small staggered tours (10 students maximum per tour group). If you would like your student to have a tour of the school you MUST sign up for a tour date and time using the Sign Up genius link below.
If you choose to have your child take a tour of the school, please know that ONLY students will be allowed on the tour, parents will be asked to stay in their car in our parking lot. Students will also have to wear a mask and have a wellness check form filled out before entering the building. We have included a link to print out our wellness form - if you cannot print it out we will have forms here at the school, a parent will have to fill it out and your student’s temperature will be checked upon arrival.
You must sign up using the sign up genius link below:

STUDENT ORIENTATION – GRADES 6-8, September 10th and 11th
We are so excited to welcome you to the start of a brand new school year whether you are an incoming 6th grader, a new student to the district, or a returning student in grades 7 and 8! The unique thing to remember about this school year is that we all are NEW to this remote learning environment. Therefore, we are REQUIRING ALL STUDENTS, in grades 6-8, to attend student orientation this year. The orientation consists of two parts:
Part 1. A video tutorial hosted by building administrators that outlines some critical nuances of our remote setting AND a student created video showcasing the “Day in the Life of a Remote Student.” Please watch this prior to the second portion of the orientation.
Part 2. Students will report to classes following an abbreviated school day schedule. This portion of the orientation provides students and teachers the opportunity to log in to classes, meet one another, practice reporting for attendance (which is mandatory even in the remote setting), and ensure everyone is ready for classes to begin on September 14, 2020. Below is the link to the orientation video and other helpful materials distributed during our Chromebook and Back to School material distribution.
- Student Orientation Video
- Orientation Directions
- Sample Student Schedule
- General Schedule information for remote learning (9/14/2020 - 10/2/2020)
- Google Meet directions for families
Student Chromebook and Back to School Materials - Every student has been issued a BSCSD Chromebook and also a BSMS agenda. Please make every effort to collect these materials by 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 9th; if you are unable then email Sharon Natale, Principal Secretary, at snatale@bscsd.org to reschedule. Information regarding the process was previously communicated and can be referenced on the Middle School website.
