PBIS School Wide Behavior Policy - PBIS
It is well known that schools are successful when they help children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. For this to happen, it is important that we provide a safe environment that is supportive and conducive to growth. By setting clear social and behavioral expectations, it is our goal to enhance our school environment.
After many discussions with staff and parents in the district, we decided to initiate an effective discipline system called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We are currently in our second year of implementation of this system. It is a school wide strategy to help all children achieve academic, social and emotional success.
Wood Road’s PBIS Plan has 3 basic expectations:
Each of your children will be explicitly taught the school-wide behavioral expectations beginning the first days of school. These lessons will highlight specific behavioral expectations in each area of the school including: instructional areas, hallways, cafeteria, recess, assemblies, bathrooms, and buses.
With your support and involvement, Wood Road Elementary School will continue to be a school where students are safe, respectful, and responsible.
