Will students have snack daily?
We will have snack each day in the morning, as we have a later lunch. Most days it will be a "working snack" so please send a quick, healthy snack that does not need to be cut. Examples of healthy snacks are apple slices, baby carrots, pretzels, granola bars, goldfish crackers, popcorn, cheese, etc. Since snack will be in the morning, please refrain from sending sugary snacks.
Will birthdays be celebrated?
We will be celebrating student birthdays this year in third grade. If your child would like to bring in a birthday snack to share with their classmates they are welcome to do so. We have 20 students in our class. Please make sure if the item to share is food that it follow the healthy schools policy as outlined by the district. All food items must be store bought and have the list of ingredients clearly labeled. lease note that we have a student with a tree-nut allergy in our class, so please make sure that any snack sent in for the class are tree-nut free. As an alternative to a birthday snack, feel free to send in pencils, stickers, etc. that can be passed out to the other students. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Can students bring in a water bottle?
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them daily. We have a water fountain in the classroom , so they will be able to refill as needed. Refillable water bottles will be sent home daily so that they can be washed.
Is there a bathroom policy?
Students are encouraged to use the bathroom during non-instructional times (beginning/end of day routine, transitions, lunch/recess, etc.) and independent work times. Of course, students will always be allowed to go during whole group instruction if they cannot wait. We trust them to be honest and to not abuse this policy.
