Updated Spring Sports Spectator Policy -
Yesterday, we were notified by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association that the number of spectators for an outdoor athletic event has been increased to 500. Based on this new information, we will be adopting this change and effective immediately, additional spectators may begin attending our athletic events to cheer on our student athletes and their coaches. Masks are still required as is  6 feet of social distancing. Our chaperones have been subjected to a great deal of criticism from spectators based on these rules this spring and we ask that you please understand that these are state rules that we are required to enforce. Please also understand that because of the increase in spectators, it will be nearly impossible to conduct timely contact tracing that would be required by the county due to a positive case. As a result, the presence of a positive case may require us to shut down a given event until such time as full tracing can occur. This is all the more reason that we ask you to please adhere to the state requirements of masking and social distancing. Our hope is that everyone will comply with these ongoing restrictions so that we all can continue to enjoy the performances of our student athletes and teams. There will be certain circumstances where we will have to use badges for entry into events, such as at Albany High School and all Unified Basketball games home and away. If there are others that come up you will be notified by your team’s coach and athletic department.
