Letter to incoming First Grader 2017-2018

  • Welcome to First Grade !

    Dear Boys and Girls,

My name is Mrs. Forgea and I am thrilled to be your first grade teacher. I am so excited that you are going to be a part of our class in September!  It will be a time to see some old friends and make some new friends. You are going to love first grade!  This year will be an exciting and fun-filled year of learning and discovery.  We will be reading some great books, writing interesting stories, researching fun topics (Antarctica, penguins and bats) and learning new math skills. In science, we will learn about solids and liquids, weather, plants, animal groups and so much more!

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself.  My husband and I live in Clifton Park.  We have one daughter named Kristen.  She and her husband Jay, along with my little grandson Mason, live in California. It is hard to believe that Mason is two and a half years old.  Guess what? I am going to be a grandma again this December! We are all very excited. This summer, Mr. Forgea and I spent a lot of time in California with Kristen, Jay and Mason and then we all went to Hawaii. The beach there was amazing and Mason even got to see some sea turtles. I can’t wait to hear all about your family, your pets and your summer fun.  As we get to know each other, you will hear a lot of stories particularly, about Mason.

If you would like to email me and tell me how your summer is going, or if you have any questions I can answer, you can write me at cforgea@bscsd.org.  You can also visit my class website (which is currently being updated) to find a lot of helpful information at (/webpages/cforgea/).

On the first day of school please bring your biggest smile and come in ready to learn and have fun!  Don’t forget to bring your lunch, a water bottle, and a healthy snack!  Watch for a very special letter from me right before school starts. Don’t open it until the night before first grade!

I hope you are having an enjoyable summer! See you in September!
