Sight words are also known as High Frequency words. These are words that first graders need to be able to read fluently as they see them. The Dolch Sight Words list is one of the most commonly used set of sight words.
The lists are broken down by grade level mastery beginning with the Pre-Primer list in Pre-Kindergarten, the Primer list in Kindergarten, and then First Grade through Third Grade lists.
One of best resources that I have found for this list of sight words is Mrs. Perkins' Website. She has every word list in multiple formats for you to access and/or print out if you would like to. Practicing these words each day with your child will greatly assist them as they continue to learn how to read.
