Rewards
-
This year we look forward to several exciting ways to recognize, reinforce and monitor positive student behavior. Students are expected to follow the “Three B’s”: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.
The Silver Spoon, Golden Whistle and Golden Dustpan rewards will be given approximately every 4-5 weeks and comes with its own incentive. It is hoped that these awards will broaden each student’s understanding of their responsibility to a larger community, their school. The class awards will be presented during the assemblies in conjunction with our Kids of Character awards or during a character education presentation. Each award brings bragging rights with the dustpan or whistle displayed outside the classroom and the spoon in the cafeteria. Be on the lookout for the shining rewards of our students!
Scottie Bucks will be used to acknowledge appropriate student behavior. When a staff member sees a student demonstrating appropriate behavior, they may give a student a Scottie Buck to reinforce this behavior. These “bucks” will accumulate and all students will be allowed to “purchase” a variety of items. Examples may include: coupons which entitle special privileges, small toys or games, lunch at a special table, extra recess, etc.
Scottie Day- There will also be three recognition events throughout the year for students that reach specific milestones along the Scottie Buck continuum. Scottie Days will include special activities during humanities times or other portions of the day to reward the milestones reached during that marking period. If a child has received three communication forms or one referral, they will attend a re-teaching lesson rather than attending the Scottie Day celebration.
