Milton Terrace Students are learning about bravery and gratitude in November through the Positivity Project. On November 9, students showed their gratitude by honoring our brave veterans. Our veterans enjoyed a breakfast, received pins, thank you cards and participated in our Veterans Day Assembly. At this year’s assembly students listened to two guest speakers, United States Army Veteran, Jeff Brown COO & Co-Founder of the Positivity Project. Our second guest speaker was Captain Robert O’Meara, United States Marine Corps. It was an honor to hear both of them speak and to show our gratitude to our veterans.
Milton Terrace Elementary School received recognition from the NYS Northeast Region PTA for earning a National PTA School of Excellence designation for the third time based on their achievement in building effective family-school partnerships. This past summer, applications were reviewed from PTAs and schools across the country, and Milton Terrace once again demonstrated how they stood out as nationwide leaders in developing partnerships with families in the school community. The school previously earned the designation twice, most recently in September 2016. Research shows that when families and schools work together, student achievement increases, schools improve and communities grow stronger. Being recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence demonstrates the school’s leadership and commitment to partnering to support student success and continuous school improvement.
