  • Dear Parents, guardians and students:

We’re off to a busy, new school year. Students have started to settle into their school routines, and are ready for an exciting year ahead of learning.

We thank you to all who attended Our Meet the Teacher evening. It was wonderful to see and meet so many of you. I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping the school and parent communication lines open.

New York State mandates us to perform four Lock down and four Fire drills prior to December 31st. We have currently completed one Lock down drill and two fire drills, successfully.

There is a lot happening in November.  There will be no school on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veteran’s Day.  Tuesday, November 12th will also be a day off for students as faculty and staff participate in a Superintendent’s conference day.  Monday, November 18th and Tuesday, November 19th will be half days for students to allow for Parent Teacher conferences, dismissal will be at 11:45 on both days.  Photo retakes will be on Friday, November 22nd.  Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29th  school will be closed as we celebrate Thanksgiving.

There are many events planned for this school year that you’ll be hearing about through the newsletters, notes home with your child and on our Malta Avenue web site during the year.

We also are part of the School Messenger System. All current families are registered to receive emails, texts, or phone notifications, please see the District Web Site at www.bscsd.org/schoolmessenger only if you want to opt out of emails, phone calls or texts.

Please continue to join us in supporting your child in having a successful school year. Checking with your child to make sure their homework is complete, prepared for school daily and staying in contact with your child’s teacher through notes, their agendas, or emails will help make the home and school connection more cohesive.

Thank you for all your support.

    Mrs. Sharon D’Agostino
