Physical Education Department

  • The physical education program at Ballston Spa Middle School provides students with instruction in a varied curriculum planned to offer grade six through 8 students a myriad of physical activities. Students will learn rules and skills associated with not only individual and team sports, but also have opportunities to learn lifetime activities related to personal health and fitness, aquatics, and dance.

    Some activities offered include:  Aquatics Safety, Badminton, Bowling, Basketball, Dance, Flag Football, Line Dancing, Recreational Games, Speedball, Soccer, and Softball, Water Polo, Team Handball, Tennis, Track and Field, Volleyball, and Weight Training.

    In addition to the required Physical Education program students in all grades may participate in various Intramural offerings throughout the year. Grades 7 and 8 students are eligible to join inter-scholastic athletics teams during the three seasons of the year. These seasons are: Fall – September through October; Winter - mid-November through February; and Spring – Late March through late May. Intramurals and Athletics participation offers students the chance to develop positive values in the Four “C”s of: Character, Citizenship, Competence and Commitment.
