PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The March 2005 NYSUT Information Bulletin states, "As additional responsibilities are assigned to teachers, teaching assistants are expected to take on greater responsibilities in supporting student instruction". Teaching Assistants in the Ballston Spa Central School District are afforded the opportunity to take part in a variety of professional development activities.

Teaching assistants hired after Feb.2, 2004 are required to complete 75 hours of professional development every 5 years. All teaching assistants are encouraged to take advantage of the quality professional development offered in order to insure they have the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the needs of students.
