Work
Environment: Our facilities are second to
none. Ranging from a 1900’s traditional elementary school to a brand new
state-of-the-art high school, our five schools serve our children and staff
extremely well. Our aggressive preventive maintenance program ensures a learning
environment that is clean and free of distractions. Major capital improvements
are made to our facilities annually, based on prioritized projects.
|
|
Our district is well equipped
with the tools that our employees need to do their jobs, ranging from new
technology and science labs to new buses and maintenance equipment.
|
|
Wages
and Benefits: Represented by labor
unions, our instructional and support staff can boast of competitive salaries
and excellent benefits. Contracts are typically negotiated for a 3-5 year
period. Labor relations between employees and administration are excellent, with
issues resolved quickly.

|
Colleagues:
If you like a stimulating environment and aren’t afraid to work hard, this is
the place for you. We screen applicants for strong skills in communication,
teamwork, problem solving, leadership and customer service. Since we recruit and
select the best of the best, there is much to be gained from working with our
team. You will find your co-workers to be well trained and helpful to colleagues
and students.

Professional
Development/Training: We invest in our
employees. For some positions, we even provide on-the-job training. We have an
on-going professional development program to enhance each employee’s skills
and knowledge base. Cross-training is encouraged to maximize the potential of
all employees. Opportunities range from mentoring to course work for credit.
Over fifteen private and state colleges are within a 25-mile radius of our
community for those who wish to continue their own education.

|
Student
Profile: Our 4200 students come from diverse backgrounds
and bring unique talents and challenges to the
learning environment.
Approximately 86% of our graduates
continues their education after high school and over 60% receive Regents
diplomas. Twenty-two percent
of our students are on free or reduced lunch, and 10% are in special
education. Diversity is increasing with 5% non-white students. |
|
The
Community: Comprised of a village and
four townships, our district covers approximately 60 square miles. Local
museums, a library, recreation fields and shopping areas make it a one-stop
community for cultural enrichment and basic needs. We are just six miles south
of world-renowned Saratoga Springs, New York and 25 miles north of
Albany, the
State Capital. Easy access to the Adirondack Northway and NYS Thruway allows our
residents to be in Boston, Montreal or New York City within three hours. An
ideal recreation spot, the Adirondack Mountains and
Lake George are but a few of
the attractions for an excellent quality of life.

|
We believe that educating
everyone takes everyone and so does our community. We enjoy broad-based
support from our community, as evidenced by budget and bond issue passage over
the last 12 years. Our parent groups are very strong and we have a
not-for-profit educational foundation that raises money in the community for
educational enrichment. Community volunteers mentor our students, work in our
libraries or participate in student job shadowing. The district has formed
partnerships with several local businesses and community organizations, winning
an award for community outreach from the American School Board Association a few
years ago.
